The Stirbey estate at Drăgășani was built up by Prince Barbu Alexandru Știrbey in the early 1920s, nationalised in 1949, and returned to the family’s heirs Ileana Kripp (born Stirbey) and Jakob Kripp in 2001.
Since then it has been re-equipped and is run with German oenologist Oliver Bauer, who has been working with the estate for more than two decades. The house is closely associated with the indigenous Drăgășani varieties — Crâmpoșie Selecționată, Novac and Negru de Drăgășani — alongside Tămâioasă Românească and Fetească Regală.
