The land
Dealurile Moldovei is the biggest region of Romania in terms of wine production and in the diversity of Romanian grape varieties grown here.
Many great Romanian wines are produced here. It is the birthplace of many indigenous rare grapes — Fetească Neagră (a top red), Busuioacă de Bohotin (the only grape that produces pure rosé wines), and whites both fresh and fruity like Frâncușă, Șarbă, Plăvaie, and Grasă de Cotnari.
Dealurile Moldovei also has the broadest range of styles in Romanian wine. You can find whites and rosés — dry, medium-sweet, lusciously sweet, or brut and extra-brut champenoise sparkling. The red wines are made mainly dry or off-dry.
The region lies in the east of Romania and includes the sub-mountain Carpathian hills and the drier eastern Moldavian hills. The average height is 140 metres, with a maximum elevation of 300 metres. It belongs to European wine-growing zone C1, one of the warmest zones for wine making.
It is divided into ten DOC wine areas: Bohotin, Iași, Cotnari, Huși, Iana, Cotești, Odobești, Panciu, Dealurile Bujorului and Nicorești. Some are attested as the oldest vineyards in Romania, with more than 2000 years of tradition.

Meet the makers
Since 2009, Domeniile Panciu are the heart and soul of the wines from over 120 hectares of vines located in this area of Vrancea. The mission has always been to make a natural, quality, 100% Romanian product by continuously exploiting the potential of the Panciu vineyard.

Cotnari Wine House has its roots in ancient Romanian times, when the native varieties made rumours among the rulers and competed on the boyars' tables. The emblem captures Vlădoianu Castle, built in 1901 by a former BNR governor and distinguished winegrower.
