This indigenous, heavy, red grape variety is a Romanian peculiarity (also known as “black girl grape” or “black maiden”). In the wine region of Transylvania, known for its white wines, this wine surprises by its excellent outcome.
The color is an intense, sparkling ruby red with garnet reflections. The wine develops aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant, dark chocolate and tobacco. With its fruity taste the wine lies velvety and round on the palate; the mineral loam soil is responsible for the smooth finish. This wine is comparable to heavy red wines from southern wine regions.
