Via Marchizului Negru de Drăgășani has an intense cherry red color with violet hues. The aromas are of black fruits like blackberries, sun dried tomatoes, with notes of figs, dark chocolate, black pepper and vanilla.

The strong body and soft structure complete the olfactory profile of this wine.

When sipped is fresh, juicy and flavorful, has round tannins and a long, lingering finish.

This is a wine tribute to the Marquis Piero Antinori, so every year there is the challenge of creating a wine worthy of the owner’s appreciation.

Before Marchesi Antinori decided where exactly the wine growing activity should be based in Romania, the company’s specialists had visited several vineyards in all the major wine regions. They all agreed with the Dealu Mare vineyard for its fantastic potential, for its optimal conditions, the soil and a very good exposure. In addition, there is a similarity between Dealu Mare and Tuscany, one of the most famous wine regions in Europe and in the world.

The best sites were selected for the planting of Metamorfosis vineyards in order to fully express the diverse terroir of Dealu Mare. On each plot a strict selection of grape varieties are cultivated with the aim of obtaining the best wines of Dealu Mare region, South-East of Romania. The vineyards are planted on gently sloping hills reminiscent of Burgundy, even though the region is situated on the same parallel as other two famous wine regions of the world, Bordeaux and Piemonte.
Vitis Metamorfosis aims to promote local varieties and a sustainable viticulture – obtaining certification for the first 15 hectares of organic grape growing in 2013 from Austria Bio Garantie, one of the European leaders in terms of inspection and certification of organic agriculture.

The company’s cellar is located in Vadu Săpat commune of Prahova County and went through a complete makeover between 2012 and 2014. It is strategically positioned to successfully serve the three vineyards owned by Vitis Metamorfosis in different wine districts. This is especially beneficial because of the short time required to transport the grapes to the winery during the harvest time. The modern technology designed to preserve the primary flavors of the grape varieties that we grow, blends in harmoniously with the large and small capacity oak barrels used for maturing especially our red wines.
