Solo Quinta is a rare wine, born from the imagination and love for wine of the oenologist Hartley Smithers. An unusual blending of four white varieties and one red variety vinified in white, which changes each year depending on the grapes with the best performance for that season.
The 2021 vintage is straw yellow, brilliant and clear. The nose is focused and elegant: in the first phase dominates the exotic fruits – pineapple, mango, passion fruit – complemented by floral notes – lily and orange blossom. After aeration we can detect the complex secondary aromas of oak, oriental spices, vanilla, caramel. Tasteful, the wine has a strong and harmonious body, balanced by the freshness of Sauvignon Blanc. Solo Quinta DNA is complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon vinified in white which is distinguished by its structure. The aftertaste is long and dominated by the vanilla notes of Chardonnay. A vintage wine that lasts and evolves over time.
The grapes are selected from plots of clay-limestone soils and harvested by hand from the Gypsy Hill, Überland, Ianova Forest and Pfefferberg areas. The wine is made by fermentation and aging in French barrique, 100% new, Dargaud & Jaegle, Medium Toast, for 4-5 months for Chardonnay. At the end, it is blended with the other vinified varieties separately in stainless steel vats. The proportion of grapes in assembly varies depending on the year: for 2021 Chardonnay remains the main component, and the part of the red variety vinified in white is 2%, thanks to the extraordinary year for Cabernet Sauvignon.
