Starting with 2011, the Ștefănești Wine House is taking care of 25 hectares of vineyards with noble varieties.
In the choice of varieties, the experience given by the wine-growing research in Ștefănești has been used, over time, Marcea being the place of numerous scientific projects.
Heavy, clay soils with high acidity are difficult to work with, needing modern agrotechnics, high performance equipment and very good synchronization with the weather conditions.
The productions on Marcea Hill is limited to a maximum of 6000 kg / ha through the cuts practiced or simply by the vigor of the plants.
The grapes obtained here have a common characteristic for all varieties planted: low ph.
The slow ripe due to the high temperature differences between day and night is the one that ensures high concentration of flavors in grapes with an optimum level of acidity.
The area has been generally known for white wines, favored by the high level of natural acidity and strong minerality. Fetească Neagră, the only black grape variety planted in Marcea, exceeded the expectations with some spectacular results. The clay soils are those that favor the accumulation of anthocyanins and the fixation of color compounds, favoring, at a moderate level of ripeness, the complexity of the wines.
