Prince Matei has its roots on the austere terraces and plateaus of two hills: Teganeanu and Zorilor. The 40+ year old vines, the clay, the gravel and the limestone creates the complex personality and finesse of this wine.
The grapes are hand harvested and the first maturation process takes place in French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by a second maturation in the bottle, processes through which the wine refined the character that brought its fame. The result is truly fabulous. Prince Matei Merlot Reserva is generous, full-bodied, excellently structured, and perfectly balanced, impressing with the elegance of the bouquet and the naturalness with which it displays the typicality of the variety.
Even if the wine expresses itself strongly after a simple aeration in the glass, we recommend decanting for 20-30 minutes for a superior experience.
Smell: Notes of forest fruits, such as currants, blackberries and strawberries, open the olfactory bouquet, joined by sophisticated tones of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and black pepper.
Taste: The aroma is intense and full-bodied, with accents of sweet tannins that melt into a long aftertaste.
